A.J. Benedict Born in Trinidad and Tobago, he is a storyteller who grew up immersed in the Caribbean oral tradition. He studied briefly, acting, drama and script reading under the tutelage of the late playwright and poet Derek Walcott. Trained in the performing arts and oral traditions, he has taken his work across theater, radio, film, and live storytelling, performing in museums, schools, and festivals across the United States. Today, he devotes himself to writing, exploring the power of storytelling as a form of cultural and artistic expression. His novel, The Rajkumar Trilogy began as a folktale in the oral tradition, a story which reflected aspects of the Trinidad Caribbean culture and later turned out to be a story that perfectly captures the idea of writing as a space where culture, imagination, and identity come together.
